After graduation from Rapid City Stevens High School, Dr. Lester earned a Bachelor of Arts with high honors from Washington University in St. Louis. She then began her medical education in Iowa, earning a medical doctorate from the University of Iowa. In medical school, she was awarded membership to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. She stayed in Iowa to complete a transitional internship at Broadlawns Medical Center before her pursuit of dermatology took her to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she completed both a dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship.

Dr. Lester has an interest in skin disease of all types, and welcomes adult and pediatric patients with both common and complex skin concerns to her practice. The author of several recent medical articles and textbook chapters, Dr. Lester has training in the latest and most cutting edge treatments available today and is excited to bring them to the Black Hills. As a fellowship-trained dermatopathologist, Dr. Lester wears two hats when caring for her patients. She both cares for her patients in the clinic as a dermatologist as well as a pathologist who interprets skin biopsies underneath the microscope. Her knowledge of skin disease in both these settings allows her to use clinical-pathologic correlation to provide the best care possible to her patients. Additionally, with pediatric dermatology training at both The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital and Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dr. Lester has a particular interest in caring for skin disease in children. Dr. Lester is a member of local and national professional associations and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. While not in the office, she is a busy wife and mother to two young sons. She and her family enjoy hiking, travel, and spending time with extended family.
